From the Cambodia Daily by KANG Sophear (11 Aug 2014): More than 2.2 million tourists visited Cambodia in the first six months of this year, a 5.2 percent increase over the same period in 2013, according to Ministry of Tourism figures. The country sending the largest number of visitors was Vietnam, followed by China and Korea, said Kong Sopheareak, director of statistics at the ministry. Tith Chantha, a director‐general at the ministry, noted that although tourist arrivals have risen, the rate of growth has slowed, in part because of political unrest in neighboring Thailand. He also suggested that a string of high‐profile plane crashes in the past few months may be making vacationers reluctant to fly.
