Happy New Year!
April is the month that Cambodia celebrates the turn of the Buddhist calendar. The year is 2560, and New Year’s celebrations mark the end of the rice harvest, when families enjoy the fruits of their labour and prepare for a new planting season. For the Thalias family, we too are grateful for the prosperous year behind us. And we too are preparing for the coming season. Tourism arrivals to Cambodia continue to break records (4.8 million in 2015), and GDP is expected to remain above 7% through 2017. So there are reasons to be grateful.
Our last event of 2559 was the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs dinner at Malis Siem Reap on April 9th. The Chaîne, a mark of excellence for any restaurant, is the oldest gastronomy association in the world. It is a fitting tribute to the coming Cambodia New Year. Come celebrate with us 2560, I believe a truly wonderful year.
And from our family to yours: Choul Chnam Thmey!
