As we’re talking about New Year’s Resolutions, here’s an easy one for you, that’s not just good for you, but also the planet: we all need to eat more fruit and vegetables. Luckily, the folks at Planted by Khmer are ahead of the game.
Planted by Khmer is an initiative that aims to promote Cambodian fruits and vegetables on the market here in order to support and celebrate local agriculture. While helping to ensure that consumers enjoy fresh fruit that is doing the least damage to the environment, this initiative also helps to increase the income and food security of small farmers across the Kingdom.
Planted by Khmer does this by highlighting Cambodia’s rich, colourful and fragrant array of delicious and nutritious fruits and vegetables, letting people know what’s in season and therefore at their tasty best, but also giving ideas for how to find and use them at home.
Planted by Khmer is an initiative of the SDC project CHAIN (Cambodia Horticulture Advancing Income and Nutrition), established by the Dutch development agency SNV Cambodia, in partnership with Swisscontact Cambodia.
Thalias, and especially Malis Restaurant, has supported this initiative since it was launched because it allows us to not only support local farmers and their families, and the wider economies in which they exist, but it also means we can prepare the best meals that we possibly can for you using fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables that have not travelled oceans before reaching your plate. They may have been in the ground or on the tree as recently as the day before you dine. It is part of our long-standing resolution to deliver to you the very best that we can.
