On September 25th, the Cambodia Restaurant Association announced its new Board of Directors. This is the team that for the next two years will set their time, talents and energies to the task of promoting and developing Cambodia’s restaurant industry, quite a challenge in these unusually difficult times.

So without further ado, let us introduce you to the Association’s new President, a man that anyone familiar with Cambodia’s (normally) dynamic restaurant scene will know, Mr Arnaud Darc, founder and CEO of Thalias, the company behind the Topaz, Malis and Khéma restaurants and Arunreas Hotel. Arnaud has lived in Cambodia for more than 25 years and is intimately familiar with every detail of successfully conducting a business in the Kingdom. He is passionate about creating the contexts in which talents and innovation can flourish.

Directly supporting Arnaud, Mr Nal Synat is the Association’s energetic new Vice-President. Mr Nal is the General Manager of One More Restaurant, responsible for hundreds of team members who serve delicious food to hundreds of thousands of hungry Toul Kork residents and visitors. With a background in economics and accounting, Mr Nal has a keen eye for detail.

The Association’s new Treasurer is a man not afraid to challenge himself. Chhit Vongseyvisoth is the COO of Chavon Hospitality, but has brought himself up through the ranks after he founded his family hotel, Phnom Penh Katari Hotel, which he has elevated to four-star standards through hard work, self-learning and a lot of commitment. He graduated in 2015, with dual degrees in architecture and design from Norton University and education from the Institute of Foreign Languages.

Another familiar face to anyone doing business in Phnom Penh over the last twenty years, Anthony Galliano is a man of many hats and talents who brings his extensive expertise of Cambodia’s tax and finance environment to the Association table in his role as Secretary General.

Also on the Board of Directors, Mr Por Lim is one of the men behind Starbucks in Cambodia, for whom he manages retail operations, the food and beverage portfolio, digital customer experience innovation, and creative and brand management. Mr Tep Virak is the Director and General Manager of Express Food Group (EFG) Cambodia, the company behind such well-known brands as The Pizza Company, Swensen’s, Dairy Queen, BarBQ Plaza, Krispy Kreme and the Coffee Club. A Cambodian national, Virak has helped to define and lead innovation in the Cambodian pizza and F&B industry. Ms Denise Lum is the Group Operations Director of Meas Development Holdings, whose mission is to create, manage and operate global and regional food beverage brands in Asia. Ms Lum has more than 25 years of in almost every aspect of Cambodia’s fast-moving F&B industry.

And finally, a face that will be very familiar to all Association Members, Ms Hak Lina will continue to support the Association’s work in an advisory role, a relief for those who would otherwise miss her smart, compassionate, no-nonsense approach.
